FlashChudder is a guitar and upright duo or trio consisting of the brothers Jared and Jason Zarnowski and Erik Scattareggia.
Jason, who is multi talented, has been playing electric and upright bass for 14 years and has attended Lebanon Valley College as a music major with an emphasis on recording technology.
He has been playing in numerous bands for over a decade and has studied with a former member of the early 80's Miles Davis electric band as well as the famed Doug Smith of Northeast PA.
Jared has been playing guitar for 14 years and has studied many musical styles ranging from blues, jazz, bluegrass, classical, flamenco, and world music.
He has rigorously studied classical guitar under Doctor Charles Truitt, formerly the guitar professor at Marywood University(PA) and the Baptist Bible College(PA) and has also studied with Doctor Matthew Slotkin, who is the guitar professor from Mansfield University and Bloomsburg University(PA) and The University of Albany(NY). Jared is also currently an adjunct guitar instructor at Wilkes University.
Together they have performed as a jazz duo, with trios and quartets as well as Jared performing as a solo classical guitarist at weddings, dinners and other events.
Erik Scattareggia has been playing with the Flashchudder Electric band for nearly 3 years now. He has been a seamless addition to the band. Erik has a degree in Music and recording technology from Bloomsburg University. Erik has played in rock, jazz, big band, and nearly everything in between. Along with playing drum set, he is also an accomplished mallet percussion player.
Since their journey into music began, they have all explored a range of musical styles extending from metal and alternative to blues, classical, and jazz.
They have now settled into an original combination of acid jazz and funk fusion because of the passion and freedom of improvisation, the intelligent musical wit embodied in jazz, and the funk based groove that supplies the foundation for the music.
Together and separately, they have performed at innumerable events such as coffeehouses, weddings, bars, clubs, charity events, private parties, and outdoor festivals.
Besides being frequent guest musicians in the local jazz, funk, and miscellaneous music scenes, they have played beside such nationally recognized musicians as George Wesley, Tom Dennehy, Jeremy Hummel, Brothers Past and have played at events with such well known bands as Ulu', members of Parliament, The Meters, and others.
FlashChudder feels that music is more than just melodic transitions and rhythmic changes. It is an infinite communication relying on textural contrast, climactic dynamics, subtle and obvious musical intellect, and passion and intensity.
Transforming covers and standards into amazing personal interpretations and utilizing their vast musical influences to compose wonderfully eclectic pieces, they draw an audience ranging from music aficionados to those who just want to "groove". For FlashChudder, it is all about the live performance, constantly exploring and learning from improvisation.
Drawing inspiration from life experience, past musicians, the awe of creation, spirituality, and harmony and balance, each performance is as unique and spontaneous as life itself.
